Thalassemia
- Thalassemia is an abnormality in the formation of the alpha or beta chain of hemoglobin. The breakdown of abnormal hemoglobin continues at a higher rate, increasing the body's requirements for all nutrients. The condition comprises oxygenation, growth and optimum function of the organs and body system.
- Thalassemia patients commonly have metabolic and growth disorders, low bone mass, chronic anemia, endocrine insufficiency, delayed puberty, low hormonal levels, and restricted development, affecting milestones of growth, due to excess iron storage in the body.
- Marked nutritional deficiencies in fat and water-soluble vitamin as well as essential minerals, due to poor absorption, elevated losses and increased nutrient turnover in thalassemia.
- Elevated oxidative stress due to secondary iron overload and increased hemolysis leads to the overutilization of minerals required for antioxidant enzyme activities, the risk of cellular damage from excess iron.
- Two fold rise in hydroperoxides, lipoperoxides, thiobarbituric acid. Levels of melondialdehyde directly correlated with serum ferritin, indicating raised utilization of this antioxidant under iron overload.
- Due to excess accumulation of iron in the body leads to hair loss, liver damage, toxicity. Thus we have created without iron kit that reduces toxicity, reduces hair loss and prevent cellular damages.
Key Ingredients & Roles
With added advantages of Kelp seaweed, Zinc, Co enzyme Q10, Vitamin D and
Calcium, Cod liver oil etc.
Kelp sea weed
Kelp seaweed is rich in antioxidants, which reduces oxidative
stress-induced hair loss. It also inhibited the activity of
5alpha reductase, which in abundance can lead to pattern hair
loss. It has anti-inflammatory and immune modulatory effect.
Zinc
A study has reported zinc deficiency in 98.5% of patients with
major thalassemia. The link between low zinc levels and higher
incidence of diabetes in beta-thalassemia, 10% diabetic and 53%
prediabetic with an inverse relation between ferritin levels and
pancreatic beta cell function.
Co enzyme Q10
CO Q10 alleviates oxidative stress, preserves mitochondrial
function and leads to better glycemic control.
Vitamin D and calcium
Raised ferritin is associated with high SGOT, SGPT, low vitamin
D and low bone density, calcium metabolism is impaired requiring
early treatment.
Low calcium and hypoparathyroidism in 72.5% of thalassemia patients, impaired calcium transport can be restored with 7 days of vitamin D supplementation.
Low calcium and hypoparathyroidism in 72.5% of thalassemia patients, impaired calcium transport can be restored with 7 days of vitamin D supplementation.
Cod liver oil
Cod liver oil enhances the supply of all essential nutrients,
leading to hair growth. It can improve hair density.
