PCOS, Stress
-
PCOS is a condition involving insulin resistance, increasing in
oxidative stress and inflammation that leads to altered metabolism
and relative hormonal imbalance resulting in hair loss.
Cyclical nutrient therapy helps to build up the immune system and counters inflammation. It restores cellular function and supports overall recovery. - Stress and free radicals alters the metabolism and hormonal imbalance in pcos patients.
- The conversion of testosterone to DHT causes the hair loss. Studies recognized that DHT releases TGFβ which is responsible for miniaturization. Now we know that the release of TGFβ is mediated by ROS. Latent TGFβ in the extracellular matrix is also activated by ROS. Experiments have revealed that using free radical scavenger to neutralize the ROS can block the release of TGFβ, thus countering the action of DHT.
- Stress induced hair loss is mediated by substance P which is known to act through ROS. Antioxidants can counteract the effects of ROS and mitigate hair loss.
- Stress leads to neurochemical, neurotransmitter and hormonal alterations through sympathetic nervous system, hypothalamic – pituatory – adrenal (HPA) axis and substance P, mediated by stress.
- Elevation in allostatic load (chronic stress lead to the wear and tear of cells) causes sleep, deprivation, increase appetite, increase blood pressure, risk of cardiovascular disease and metabolic syndrome.
- Stress escalates physiological demand for energy, oxygen utilization, cellular functions, requiring enzymes, cofactors, catalysts and micronutrients.
Key Ingredients & Roles
With added benefits of Vitamin B3, Vitamin B5, Curcumin, Myo-inositol,
Quercetin, Green tea extract, Melatonin, Nutmeg extract, Myo-inositol,
Vitamin C etc.
Vitamin B3
Niacin deficiency impairs glucose oxidation, tissue respiration
causing depression, confusion. Low vitamin B – complex increase
risk of stress, depression, lethargy, irritability.
Vitamin B5
It is also known as "Anti stress" vitamin as it supports the
adrenal glands.
Curcumin
It is a polyphenolic compound with potent antioxidant has
beneficial effects on serum markers of inflammation patients
with PCOS. Curcumin reduces hyperandrogenemia and hyperglycemia.
Curcumin lowers DHT levels by blocking the action of the alpha-5
reductase enzyme.
Quercetin
Quercetin exerts a neuroprotective effect and modulates gut
microbiota. It reduces gut dysbiosis associated with ROS
production. Its antioxidant activity counters ROS and stress –
induced alopecia. It also modifies prostaglandin pathways and T
helper cell- mediated immune response.
Green tea extract
It works as a strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory
properties. It improves metabolism and reduces body mass index
(BMI) patients with pcos. It improves glycemic control in women
with pcos.
Melatonin
It has beneficial
effect on hormonal alteration in women with pcos. Melatonin
works as immune regulatory, reduces raised cortisol level and
improves sleep cycle.
Nut Meg extracts
It has a long history of use as an antianxiety. It stables
anxiety issues, promotes relaxation, calms the body and builds
up the nutritional reserve.
Myo-Inositol
It is effective in normalizing ovarian function, improving
oocyte and embryo quality in PCOS. Inositol also plays a
specific key role in reducing serum testosterone levels.
Vitamin C
It helps in early recovery from physical as well as
phychological stress. It is required for utilization of
phenylalanine and tyrosine.
