Insulin Resistance - AGA
- Pattern hair loss or androgenic alopecia is a genetically predisposed disorder from altered response to androgen.
- However, pattern hair loss is seen to occur clinically even with normal androgen levels. Scientific updates have attributed hair loss to be inflammatory, immune-mediated, nutritional, genetic, and hormonal or from any imbalance causing dysregulation of the hair growth cycle.
- AGA is described as prolongation of telogen and shortening of anagen. Clinically, every alopecia begins as simple hair fall or telogen effluvium. Continued exposure to these non androgenic factors, promotes gradual cellular dysfunction and accumulation of ROS, which is proven to increase the sensitivity of androgen receptors (AR) making them hyper sensitive to normal circulating androgens, without any rise in androgen levels.
- Insulin Resistance can develop from impaired glucose, amino acid and fat metabolism from ROS induced cellular dysfunction.
- Early onset of pattern hair loss is an indicator for insulin resistance, which when left uncorrected, leads to type -2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome. High scores of HOMA – IR and FIRI suggests that early onset pattern hair loss is associated with insulin resistance.
- Micro nutrients have a role in management of insulin resistance and diabetes. Rising insulin resistance is sowing seed for metabolic disturbances and various diseases. Pancreatic cells have very low activity of free radical quenching enzymes, making them vulnerable to apoptosis from ROS.
- Early intervention with nutritional support & lifestyle changes can prevent serious metabolic syndrome.
Key Ingredients & Roles
With advantages of Lactoferrin, Curcumin, Myo-inositol, Kelp seaweed,
Moringa leaf extract, MSM (methyl sulphonyl methane), Beta sitosterol,
ESM etc.
Curcumin
It is a natural anti-inflammatory and antioxidant improves
insulin resistance.
Myo- inositol
It reduces hyperandrogenism and dyslipidemia through the
reduction of plasma insulin levels.
Lactoferrin
It is an iron binding protein glycoprotein found in body fluid
including milk. It exerts effects on the stimulation of DP cell
proliferation and hair growth. Lactoferrin shows
anti-inflammatory and immune boosting properties that prevents
hair loss.
Kelp seaweed
kelp helps in weight management and glycemic control.
Moringa leaf extract
Moringa seed oil contain the phytosterol compounds
(β-sitosterol, ergosterol and campesterol) show the activities
that obstruct the formation of the dihydrotestosterone (DHT)
compound known to be the cause of alopecia. It is a potent
immune booster and high in antioxidants.
Methyl sulfonyl methane (MSM)
It is a sulfur- rich compound with anti-inflammatory properties.
Sulfur present in MSM strengthens the bond between keratin
molecules which improves hair growth and appearance of hair.
Beta sitosterols
It is a plant – derived phytosterol, which blocks the conversion
of testosterone in to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) by inhibition of
5 alpha – reductase enzymes and helps in androgenic alopecia.
Its antioxidant activity counters ROS and stress – induced
alopecia. It also modifies prostaglandin pathways and T helper
cell- mediated immune response.
Egg shell membrane
It improves hair thickness and appearance. Also shows a
reduction in hair breakage. It promotes hair growth.
